Pronation & supination

The joints and soft parts of the foot are subject to stress even during a normal step, but the strain increases dramatically in misalignments that cause overpronation and supination. This means that the foot over-rotates inwards (pronates) or outwards (supinates) during the ground contact phase. This can cause pain in the feet, lower legs, knees and even higher parts of the body, such as the back and neck. A moderate pronation with an inward rotation of the foot is part of the natural movement of the foot and therefore not a misalignment as such.

Ortolab insoles:

Overpronation can be counteracted to varying degrees with a dynamic foot arch rest with the right height, which Ortolab AFS insoles provide. In addition, we can reduce displacement of the foot by custom shearing our Ortolab HGP Individ insoles to fit your specific needs.
Supination can be counteracted by raising the outward-facing part of the forefoot when shearing the Ortolab HGP Individ insoles.
