Hallux valgus

Hallux valgus is a condition characterized by the big toe becoming crooked and a “lump” growing on the inside of the big toe. Hallux valgus is the most common foot deformity and occurs mainly in women. Hallux Valgus is sometimes caused by a fallen front foot arch. Forefoot pronation can also increase the load on the inside of the big toe joint. It is often considered hereditary, but choosing the right footwear is also of great importance, as tight shoes may contribute to Hallux Valgus. This can be very painful when placing load on the foot, as it causes your full body weight to rest on the “lump”.

Ortolab insoles:

Because the pad in our insoles supports the front transverse arch of the foot and provides support and lift for the metatarsals of the forefoot (metatarsals), stress on the joint of the big toe is relieved. The pad also reduces overpronation in the forefoot. The support in the longitudinal arch of the foot is also very important so as not to terminate the step above the affected toe. Ortolab’s dynamic insoles position the foot correctly and allow the foot to work according to its natural range of motion.
